I'm Tracy, and I support men and women who are drinking more than they'd like but are finding it difficult to break the cycle. Combining my own lived experience with my professional healthcare background and qualifications in psychology and counselling, I offer compassionate, down-to-earth support to help you regain control, and create lasting change.

My journey into sober coaching began when I became alcohol-free in 2018 after years of struggling with my own drinking. It wasn’t severe enough for AA or a trip to my GP, but my wine habit was affecting my sleep, causing off-the-scale anxiety, hindering weight loss, and taking over my weekends with the kids. Since becoming alcohol-free in 2018 my life has changed in ways I never thought possible.

In 2021 I founded a free sober support group on facebook called Smug Club (named after that Sunday morning feeling of waking up smug because you didn’t drink yourself into oblivion on a Saturday night) so that I could help others in the same boat I was once in. The group has grown into a welcoming space for people seeking connection, encouragement, and support across the world.

My desire to help others and spread the sober message led me to volunteer with specialist services in my area, where I trained to be a counsellor specialising in behaviour change and recovery. I have provided one-to-one counselling, facilitated support groups for people at various stages of sobriety and worked within the NHS supporting individuals to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Between my own lived experience, running an online sober community, and my professional career I have supported people across the full spectrum of alcohol use. Whatever your drinking habit looks like, chances are I've worked with someone facing similar challenges.

Along with my Sober Coach Accreditation I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Counselling, an HNC in Counselling, and several specialist qualifications through the Scottish Alcohol Counselling Consortium, including Advanced Alcohol Counselling Skills, Person-Centered Counselling Skills, and Counselling People Towards Behaviour Change.
